About Dana Cooper
A Life of Art, Design, and Island Inspiration
Dana Cooper is a designer, illustrator, and art director whose work spans fashion, publishing, and visual storytelling.
Born and raised in Bermuda, Dana’s lifelong connection to the sea and island landscapes continues to shape her creative world—from the bold, tropical prints in her fashion collections to her award-winning editorial design and beloved children’s books. She spent much of her childhood on the water with her family and her father, an Olympic sailor, which instilled in her a deep love for the rhythms and colors of coastal life.
After earning a BFA from Parsons School of Design and studying at the National Academy of Design in New York City, Dana began her career in publishing. She worked as an art director and designer for W Magazine, Sports Illustrated, The Week, Talk Magazine, The Washington Post, and The Wall Street Journal, among others. Her editorial work, ranging from magazine layout and font selection to global campaign art direction, has been recognized by the Society of Publication Designers.
Dana later spent over a year in Beijing as Art Director for Citi Edition, the first U.S.-licensed publication in China. During that time, she was introduced to the textile industry in Bali. That experience, combined with her fine arts background and island heritage, led to the founding of her namesake resortwear brand in 2006.

Every piece begins with a sketch and draws inspiration from the natural beauty of coastal life, like turquoise coves, bay grape leaves, and moonlit skies. What started with a single sarong has since grown to include scarves, SPF-rated swimwear and tops, cashmere accessories, and signature printed dresses.
Her pieces have appeared in VOGUE (U.S. and British editions), been carried by Saks Fifth Avenue, and stocked by top boutiques throughout New York, Palm Beach, Bermuda, Jamaica, and beyond. From fashion to illustration, every product reflects Dana’s commitment to craftsmanship, comfort, and the joy of summer.
