Editorial Illustration & Design

Dana Cooper brings a fresh, island-inspired perspective to editorial illustration and design. Her work spans art direction, page layout, and custom hand-painted visuals, blending vivid color, expressive scenes, and natural textures. Whether designing a magazine spread or illustrating a children’s book, Dana’s creative approach is rooted in storytelling, composition, and a strong artistic voice.

Custom Illustration for Publishing Projects

Dana collaborates with publishers, editors, authors, and creative teams to shape visual narratives from concept to completion. Her services include:

  • Illustration for books, covers, educational content, and editorial features
  • Design direction for magazine layouts, columns, and special issues
  • Hand-painted elements for patterned endpapers, chapter openers, and visual storytelling
  • Campaign art direction for print and branded content

Each piece begins with a conversation and a sketch. Dana works in traditional media, drawing each element by hand before refining it digitally and delivering high-resolution files ready for print or web. Her process is detailed but flexible, ideal for both long-format projects and tight editorial timelines.

  • Retail Commissions

In this project, completed for an established Bermudian department store, Dana designed this public piece of art to celebrate their store's 100th anniversary. Dana painted this scene and collaborated with an Italian mosaic company to execute this installation.

  • Island View From London

Dana illustrates a captivating column "That's Life" by Winifred Hughes in The Bermudian Magazine, using vibrant, island-inspired artwork. Her distinctive illustrations bring stories to life, blending storytelling with bold visual design for an immersive reader experience.
